Sledgehammer Games – the Activision studio that teamed-up with Infinity Ward on Modern Warfare 3's development – is now hiring for positions within its Call of Duty team on an “unannounced high-end console title”.
“We are actively recruiting top talent for our Call of Duty development team,” reads one job ad for a Generalist Engineer position at the studio.
A paired job ad for a Senior Online Engineer then reads: “The candidate will be involved in the creation of multiplayer game modes and online community features for an unannounced high-end console title.”
It's safe to conclude, then, that Sledgehammer is on the Call of Duty warpath once again after aiding Infinity Ward with the development of MW3's single-player campaign, and that the Call of Duty project it's undertaking is not DLC for an existing Call of Duty title but a new game instead.
The mystery that remains is whether this unannounced CoD title is the sci-fi, third-person action game that Sledgehammer shelved earlier in the year to focus on MW3's development, or an all-new CoD project from scratch. Judging by General Manager, Glen Schofield's most recent admittance that Activision and Sledgehammer will "probably cancel" the previous third-person project, we'll bet good money it's a new CoD game altogether.
More as we get it...
